Gift Wrapping Ideas Print
If you're ordering a gift online to send directly to your gift recipient, you may find that most online gift stores offer to send your gift, wrapped and with a card.

Getting The Gift Wrapped For You

Check to see what options are available you should be able to send a personalised message on your gift card, perhaps choose the colour and style of the wrapping paper, bows and ribbons. If you don't know colours to pick, it's generally a good idea to keep it simple and go with either one or two colours.

  • One Colour Gift Wrap Choosing one colour for the paper, ribbon and bow can create a very stylish and modern look.
  • Two Colour Gift Wrap Choosing two colours for your gift-wrap, one for the paper and a contrasting colour for the bow and ribbons tend to create a more traditional looking gift-wrap.

You may prefer to leave it to the gift store to choose the wrapping for you. They should have examples of their wrapping available to view online.

Doing the Gift Wrapping Yourself

DIY gift-wrapping can be great fun it doesn't have to be all about perfect-corners and concealed tape, but it can be imaginative and as quirky as you like. Here are a few ideas to get your creative gift-wrapping juices flowing:

  • Be Different Use plain brown 'post office' paper and string after all it may be one of their favourite things!
  • Be Surprising Wrap a small gift in an oversized box, they'll never be able to guess what's inside.
  • Be Entertaining Wrap your gift inside a box, inside a box, inside a box  great for keeping small children busy and you can even add a small treat in between layers or a joke, written on a small piece of paper and stuck to the next layer.
  • Be Thoughtful Think about who will be unwrapping the gift. If it's someone with tiny or arthritic fingers, don't wrap your gift in too much tape. Make it much easier to unwrap than usual and if possible, be on hand to help cut paper, string, tape or ribbons with scissors.
